Welcome to the Pakistan Basketball Federation
Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) is the national governing body for the promotion and development of sport of Basketball in the Country. Basketball was introduced in the Sub-Continent in 1900 and got popularity in Lahore and Karachi. At the time of independence, the basketball association was named “Karachi Amateur Basketball Association”. Later the Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation was formally raised in February 1952 and started its functions in early 1953. PBF is affiliated with International Basketball Federation (F.I.B.A) and Asian Basketball Confederation (A.B.C).
In the late 20's, the game of basketball became one of the regular University Sports. The Punjab Olympic Association took the initiative in introducing the game of Basketball in the Delhi Games. In 1936, the game was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and was included in the World Olympics at Berlin.
Mission
The mission of the Pakistan Basketball Federation is to promote and develop the sport of basketball in Pakistan in accordance with the F.I.B.A rules.
Pakistan Basket Ball Federation
- To promote and develop all aspects of the game of Basketball.
- To exercise and maintain general control of the game of Basketball in Pakistan, with particular reference to the rules and regulations for the conduct of the game and spirit of amateurism.
- To promote the formation of affiliated organize ensuring the fulfilment of formalities required under the constitution.(do not understand this sentence)
- To organize or authorize to conduct the all Pakistan tournaments, National Championships and Exhibition Matches amongst members and against Foreign Teams, including the test matches, under its own or under the auspices of its affiliated Members and exercise control on all such activities.
- To collect Funds for the Federation and utilize the same in such a manner as may be considered desirable for attainment of the aims and objectives of the Federation.
- To select the Teams and Officials to represent Pakistan in the competitions at home and to promote, control and finance visits of National Teams abroad.
- To promote, control and if necessary, to finance visits of foreign Teams to Pakistan.
- To standardize and control the functions of the Referees Board
- To control, supervise and coordinate all the activities of Member Units relating to the game of Basketball.
- To carry out all other such functions and take steps as may be conducive and considered necessary, to achieve the aims and objectives of the Federation.
- To arrange and encourage systematic training and to control and implement the coaching programs.
