KARACHI: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) have registered their protest against WAPDA’s Imran Khan in the ongoing 59th National Hockey Championship.
Imran has been out of the national setup for quite a while and thus he cannot play in the national championship since players above the age of 30 can not be a part of the tourney unless they are a regular part of national team.
The tournament organisers say that their inquiries showed that Imran was not overage, but PAF says the player is 32 years old. PAF wanted the National Identity Card (NIC) photocopy or its number of the player which has been provided to them.
Imran who is an international player happens to be the younger brother of Raheem Khan, who is a former player and is currently a part of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) setup. According to rules of the tournament, if the protest goes successful, PAF will receive a 5-0 win over WAPDA. In addition, Imran will get suspended for one year by PHF |
