ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) has received a much needed boost in the form of equipment and training support from the pioneers of the martial art discipline, Korea. The Korean embassy in the Islamabad will sponsor the PTF in an effort to further boost a sport that was formally introduced in Pakistan by the Koreans in 1962.
“We are thankful to the embassy for its utmost support for the promotion of taekwondo in the country,” PTF Secretary Wasim Ahmed told APP.
Choong-Joo Choi, Ambassador of South Korea to Pakistan, said, “Taekwondo is a Korean national sport and is a popular game in Asia. Today, it has become a global sport and has gained an international reputation, and stands among the official games in the Olympics. The Korean Government is trying their utmost for promotion of this sport in Pakistan in an effort to make it competitive at the international level,” he added.
The PTF has also received donations from World Taekwondo Federation for the flood affected people in the country which it plans to distribute soon |
