KARACHI: Malir’s Baloch FC defeated Mauripur Azad 2-1 on Monday in their match of the 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League here at the Jam Stadium in Malir.
The win helped Baloch FC open their account with three points. It was the second straight loss for Mauripur Azad, who were beaten 1-2 by Jam XI. Zakir Hussain put Baloch FC in front in the 11th minute when he capitalised on a pass from Fida Hussain.
Mauripur Azad were unlucky not to bring an equaliser as opposition’s goalkeeper Shakeel Ahmad saved a penalty from Amjad Ali in the 29th minute.
Soon after the interval, Baloch FC doubled their lead through Fida Hussain whose drive from free-kick went into the net. Five minutes later Mauripur Azad reduced their deficit to 1-2 through an excellent field effort from Kamran Khan.
The strike put some pressure on Baloch FC, but they played tight defensive game and were able to maintain the lead till full time. On Tuesday, Baldia’s Askani Brothers will lock horns with Malir’s Jam XI.
