Pakistan woman athlete wins two bronze medals

KARACHI: Pakistan’s top woman athlete Zeenat Parveen won two bronze medals in the Asian Grand Prix Athletics Series held from May 6-14 at Chonburi Campus Stadium, Thailand. “Out of four-member team, Zenat made her country proud by putting up a good show by winning the medals in shotput with 13.93m, 13.69m,” said a spokesman for the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) on Tuesday. Zeenat’s other female colleague Rabia Ashiq failed to impress in 800meter and so did her two male colleagues Liqauat Ali (100meter) and Farhan Ahmed (800meter).
Zeenat, Rabia and Farhan are from Wapda while Liaquat is from Pakistan Army. AFP president Major General (retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi has greeted Zeenat on her encouraging show. He has also congratulated the team coach and other members of the squad. The AFP chief has also congratulated WAPDA sports authorities on the outstanding performance of Zeenat.
