KARACHI: National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) will hold another round of trials towards the end of this month to select the best sharp shooter of the country for skeet event of London Olympics.
NRAP Secretary Javaid Lodhi said in a statement on Tuesday the shooter could have been finalised on the basis of the criteria determined before the trials, but very poor scores achieved in the trials did not justify the final selection of any one shooter for participation in the Olympics.
In emails sent to Khurram Inam and Ahmed Sultan, he said that both of them represented the top two out of all shooters considered for selection and that it had been decided to give them three weeks for practice and hold three final trials in the last week of June.
Final schedule of the trials would be intimated in the next few days, he said. The winner will be decided only on the basis of total aggregate score achieved by the shooters in these three rounds of trials. “In case the total score is tied, the shooter with the highest single score in these trials will be the winner. In case the highest score is also equal, the shooter with the single lowest score will be eliminated and the other shooter will be the winner,” he said.
He directed both Khurram Inam and Ahmed Sultan to send their acceptance of the selection criteria by June 7. “In case of non-receipt of your acceptance by the due date, it will be assumed that you are not interested in the selection.”
