KARACHI: The PSF Squash Complex at PSB National Coaching Centre was on Sunday named after squash legend Jahangir Khan during an inauguration ceremony.

AVM Razi Nawab, the Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), said that the facility has been named after the record ten-time British Open champion in recognition of Jahangir’s services for Pakistan squash.

He added that the complex will be jointly administered by Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Sindh Squash Association (SSA). “This will be a valuable facility for squash players of the biggest city of the country,” he said during the inauguration ceremony.

Razi said that in order to maximise its utility, PSF would invest more in the maintenance of the complex. “SSA is planning to hold a national ranking event here soon, while we would try if some matches of international events can also be held here,” he said.

On the occasion, Jahangir Khan said: “The long-awaited opening of this complex has finally happened and I’m sure that it will be beneficial for players, most of whom cannot afford to play squash at other venues.”

Jahangir, former president of World Squash Federation (WSF), admitted that the standard of the game is not that good now but there are lots of talented young players who can still help Pakistan regain their lost glory.
