KARACHI: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his partner Rojer Jean-Julien sailed into the second round of Wimbledon 2012 after winning a rain-hit match against British wildcards James Ward and Josh Goodall in London on Wednesday.
Aisam and Rojer, ranked 12th and 21st respectively, faced little trouble in beating James Ward and Josh Goodall (575th and 385th), 7-6, 6-2, 6-4 at grass courts of the All England Club.
It was a welcome win for Aisam, who recently failed to obtain a wildcard entry to the London Olympics.
He may be given a chance in case of any withdrawals from the Olympic Games, which start from July 28, says the ITF.
