KARACHI: Two Pakistani cueists will leave for China on Thursday (today) to take part in the World Under-21 Snooker Championship 2012 getting underway from July 14.

Alamgir Anwar Shaikh, President Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA), informed ‘The News’ here on Wednesday that Hunain Aamir and Mohammad Majid would be accompanied by referee Shabbir Hussain Daruwala, who will also be manager of the team.

The championship will be held in Wu Xi and will end on July 22.

Both Hunain and Majid, who have been chosen to represent the country on the basis of their performance in the Jubilee Insurance Junior Under-21 Snooker Championship 2012 staged in Lahore earlier this year, have just completed two-week training under the supervision of Mohammad Yousuf, a former world champion.

“The training and coaching stint at the PSB Sports Complex in Islamabad has certainly helped both the cueists and they have been able to learn from the expertise of Yousuf, the only Pakistani to win the World Championship,” the PBSA President remarked.

“The boys are in high spirits and eager to perform well. They are very well prepared for the event and are looking forward to it,” he added.

“We have fulfilled the promise of sending them to China despite the financial constraints. The Youth department of the Government of Sindh has met half of the expenses. We raised the rest of the amount from other resources,” the PBSA President said.
