KARACHI: Pakistan’s Muhammad Rehman continued his steady showing in the 2012 Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship to remain in hunt for a respectable finish in the event in Dhaka on Friday.

Even as his more fancied compatriots remained unimpressive in the tournament, Rehman followed his rounds of 74 and 73 with another card of two-over 74 in the third round to stay on the seventh spot on the leaderboard. After three rounds his aggregate is five-over 221.

The seasoned Muhammad Waseem Rana also bounced back after two unimpressive rounds to return with a card of 74 in the third round for the 15th spot in the list. Rana had returned with cards of 78 and 76 on the first two days.

After firing a commendable round of 73 the other day, Pakistani youngster Mubariz Ahmed flopped again in the third round in which he scored 79. Muhammad Ali Hai, the 2010 Bangladesh Amateur Champion, has retired from the event the other day.

While the four Pakistani players have failed to make their presence felt in the championship, India’s Manav Das continues to lead the fleet by five shots. After shooting 68 and 69 in the first two rounds, Das fired 71 in the third round for an aggregate of 8-under 208. He is five-shots ahead of Bangladesh’s second placed Sajib Ali (213) and is unlikely to face many problems in cruising to the title on Saturday (today).
