ISLAMABAD: Defending champion Nasir Iqbal continued his giant killing run in the COAS International in Pakistan when he stunned third seed Danish Atlas Khan in straight games in semifinals of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event in its tenth year here at the Mushaf Squash Complex.

Nasir, who celebrated his 18th birthday earlier this month, took 61 minutes to beat Danish, ranked more than 40 places higher. Nasir was the surprise winner of the 2011 title. The boy, ranked 140th in the world circuit, will now meet Danish’s elder brother, Aamir, the highest ranked player featuring in the event, in the summit clash of the tournament.

Nasir defeated second seed Farhan Mehboob earlier in quarters. Top seeded Aamir, ranked 32nd in the world, overcame fourth seeded Farhan Zaman after being a set down. Aamir registered a 9/11, 13/11, 11/9, 11/9 triumph in 57 minutes to confirm his presence in the final.

Meanwhile, Zoya Khalid took 38 minutes to beat Rushna Mehboob in straight sets, registering a 11/9, 13/11, 11/9 triumph in women’s event semifinals.

In the final, Zoya will face Saima Shoukat, who thrashed Amna Latif in straight sets, recording a convincing 11/3, 11/5, 11/4 victory in only 18 minutes
