Pak squash players climb up rankings’ ladder

KARACHI: Many local players bettered their rankings in the world squash circuit after featuring in COAS International Squash Open, the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 event played in Islamabad last month.


Farhan Zaman, who reached the semifinals of the event, bounced eight places up to occupy 89th spot while another semifinalist Danish Atlas also moved up eight places to achieve the 91st place.


Farhan Mehboob, who reached the quarterfinals, moved up two places to 77th spot.


The biggest mover in the rankings was 18-year-old Nasir Iqbal, who reached the final of the tournament only to beaten by top seed and Pakistan No 1Aamir Atlas Khan. Nasir leapfrogged 17 places up to the 123rd spot. But Aamir slipped down two places to the 34th spot.


Lahore-based Yasir Butt leaped eight places up to the 56th place after reaching the quarterfinals of Berkshire Open, the PSA World Tour International 35 event played last month in Massachusetts, USA.
