The Pakistan Swimming Federation and its Women’s Wing the Pakistan Women’s Swimming Association successfully organized and conducted the 52nd National Men’s and 13th Women’s (Open) Swimming Championship 2014 from 12 – 15 June 2014 at Pakistan Sports Board Swimming Pool, Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad, Pakistan
A total of 11 teams i.e. Army, Navy, WAPDA, HEC, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Baluchistan, Islamabad (FA), FATA and Gilgit Baltistan participated in 3 day mega event. Pakistan Army participated in this event with its male and female teams. At the end of the day Team Army won both the Men’s and Women’s championship with distinct results as follows:-
Male Events. Team won 14 x Gold, 10 x Silver and 6 x Bronze Medals and scored 399 points. L / Hav Israr Hussain and Sep Muhammad Asif both from Pakistan Army were declared best male swimmers of the National Championship winning 3 x individual events each.
Female Events. In a female category Pakistan Army Team won 19 x Gold, 9 x Silver and 3 x Bronze Medals and scored 491 points. A total of 3 new National Records were bettered by the Army female swimmers, one by Miss Kiran Khan in 50 Freestyle and 2 by Miss Lianna Swan in 200 M Backstroke and 50 M Breaststroke.
