Pakistan Announce Boxing Teams

KARACHI: Pakistan announced their four teams on Wednesday that will be featuring in the second edition of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing tournament, starting at the Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad on Thursday (today).

The country’s top boxers and the Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Mohammad Waseem and England-based Haroon Khan have been kept in different teams and both will be competing in the 52kg, the weight which became a serious issue between the two before the World Championship in Baku a couple of months back.

Teams:

Team A: Mohammad Nisar (49kg), Mohammad Waseem (52kg), Niamatullah (56kg), Nawaz Dad (60kg), Aamir Khan (64kg), Arshad Hussain (69kg), Dur Mohammad (75kg), Ahmad Ali (81kg), Yasir Javed (91kg), Mir Waiz (+91kg).

Team B: Nouman Patni (49kg), Haroon Khan (52kg), Ghulam Mustafa (56kg), Qadir Khan (60kg), Adnan Hassan (64kg), Zulqarnain (69kg), Jamal Nasir (81kg), Riaz Ali (91kg), Waqas Ahmad (+91kg).

Team C: Shoaib Murad (49kg), Abdul Waheed (52kg), Abid Ali (56kg), Fahim (60kg), Tariq Zia (64kg), Haider Riaz (69kg), Majid Ali (75kg), Atif Mehmood (81kg), Nadir Khan (91kg), Asad Abbas (+91kg)

Team D: Jehanzeb (49kg), Nadir Baloch (52kg), SM Asif (56kg) and SM Hussain (60kg).
