KARACHI: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Karachi Zone A on Wednesday blasted their way into the quarter-finals of the National Under-14 Football Championship at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad.

AJK will lock horns with Punjab, while Karachi Zone A will take on Sindh in the quarter-finals.

Nowshera and Karachi Zone B are the other teams which have advanced into the last eight stage. The remaining two quarter-finalists will be decided on Thursday (today). In Wednesday’s crucial game, AJK held Sindh to a 1-1 draw. The draw that gave a single point helped Sindh top Group D with seven points, while AJK ended second with three points.

Muneer Munna put Sindh in front in the 15th minute before Umair Pervaiz slotted home an equaliser for AJK in the 51st minute. Meanwhile, the other Group D tie between Faisalabad/Sargodha Zone and Peshawar Zone ended in a goalless stalemate. Both the teams are already out of the tournament.

The Group A show between Karachi Zone A and Quetta Zone also ended in a goalless draw. The result helped Karachi Zone A enter the quarter-finals with just two points. Punjab have already qualified from this group as leaders with four points.
