The IOC Debriefing of the London 2012 Games in Rio sees organisers of London 2012 sharing knowledge and experiences with Rio 2016.

As Rio de Janeiro continues to prepare for the next Summer Olympic Games in 2016, this week the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is providing Rio 2016 -- as well as other future Olympic Games organisers -- with a vital opportunity to learn from the first-hand experiences and knowledge of the previous host, London.

The IOC Debriefing is part of a broader transfer of knowledge programme aimed at strengthening and deepening the impact that future Olympic Games, and in particular Rio 2016, can have in terms of leaving lasting legacies for the communities that host them.

Recent interviews with the people responsible for hosting the Games and archive footage from previous host cities show the growing importance of legacy as one of the most crucial components behind staging an Olympic Games.

These days, Olympic success is not just measured in medals, records and iconic images, but as much in the lasting benefits that the Games can bring to a host city and nation.

Material contains images of the IOC Debriefing of the London 2012 Games in Rio; construction work in Rio; interviews with Jacques Rogge, President of the IOC; Nawal El Moutawakel, Chair of the Rio 2016 Coordination Commission; Carlos Nuzman, President of the Organising Committee of the Rio 2016 Games; and Lord Seb Coe, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the London 2012 Games. It also features material on past host cities: London 2012, Beijing 2008, Sydney 2000 and Barcelona 1992 and includes archive and up-to-date interviews with those involved in legacy planning during these editions of the Games.
