Ali Bukhari Bags National Junior Title Back To Main

KARACHI: Ali Bukhari overpowered Tayyab Aslam in the final of men’s singles event of 2nd Rehana Nazar Rashidabad National Junior Squash Championship on Tuesday at Rehana Nazar Squash Complex in Rashidabad District Tando-Allayar.

Ali Bukhari took the first set against Tayyab Aslam 11-4, but Tayyab managed to level the arrears winning the second set 12-10. However, Ali dominated in the remaining part of the match and recorded a 11-4, 10-12, 11-4, 11-9 triumph in 51 minutes to clinch the title.

Asim Khan was taken to full-stretch of the game by Salman Zaib before the former recorded a 11-3, 11-5, 9-11, 6-11, 13-11 victory after a marathon 59-minute battle to clinch U17 singles title.

In boys U15 final, third seed Israr Ahmed brushed aside fourth seeded Zeeshan Khan, recording a straight-set 11-6, 14-12, 11-9 triumph in 41 minutes. Third seed Kashif Asif stunned favourite Ahsan Ayaz in the final of boys U13 singles, registering a 12-10, 2-11, 11-6, 11-8 win.

Second seed Salman Jilani also pulled an upset in the final of boys U11 singles, beating top seed Ali Karamat 9-11, 11-9, 14-12, 5-11, 11-8. Fourth seed Riffat Khan recovered from two sets down to beat Samar Anjum 9-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-9 to clinch girls U19 title.

Favourite Madina Zafar took only 20 minutes to dispatch second seed Mayral Sheikh and register a formidable 11-7, 11-4, 11-6 triumph to lift girls U15 title.
