KARACHI: Fully aware that it will be the last chance to qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games, Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will go all out for victory when he launches his French Open men’s doubles campaign along with partner Rojer Jean-Julien in Paris on Tuesday (today)

Aisam and his partner will face French pair Nicolas Renavand and Jonathan Dasnieres De Veigy in French Open in their men’s doubles opening round match. This is Aisam’s fourth appearance in this tournament and his last chance to earn enough points to get a berth at the London Olympics set to begin on July 27.

Asiam first played and lost in the opening round of this Grand Slam tournament in 2003 when he partnered with Daniel Vacek of Czech Republic. Five years later, he again lost in the first round in 2008 when his partner was India’s Rohan Bopanna.

With Bopanna he reached the second round in 2010 and quarterfinals in 2011. Aisam is currently ranked 16th with 4,070 points.

Nicolas Renavand and Jonathan Dasnieres De Veigy, their opponents in the Tuesday match of round of 64, are 139th and 490th in doubles individual ranking. The former has appeared in the French Open before, but this is the first time the latter will be playing this prestigious tournament.
