Wapda wins volleyball title Back To Main

LAHORE (APP): Wapda won the title of Khawaja Muhammad Safdar 47th National Volleyball Championship beating Police in straight games 25-10, 25-15 and 25-18 at Sheikh Maula Baksh Stadium on Monday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat Punjab 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 to attain the third position.said the information made available here. The final between two top teams of the country was not had an exciting finish as WAPDA dominated the proceedings from the beginning. Both Kashif and Naseer maintained their brilliant form and exerted pressure on Police players with their powerful serves and smashes. Wapda won the first two games with a wide margin. Police players, however, showed some resistance in the third game and at a stage they even enjoyed supremacy over their opponents but it was short-lived.

Earlier, the spectators enjoyed the third position match between KPK and Punjab. KPK won the first game but Punjab players offered tough resistance in the second game which they narrowly lost. Nadeem and Noorani from Punjab performed well even in the third game but KPK\'s Shiraz carried out some hard serves which Punjab players could not respond. At the end Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Pakistan Volleyball President Ch. Muhammad Yaqoob gave away prizes to the winning teams.
