Smooth sailing for seeds in National Boxing Back To Main

KARACHI: Almost all the leading boxers qualified for the quarter-finals in their respective weight categories on the second day of the National Boxing Championship at the Punjab College in Lahore on Tuesday.
According to details, in the 60kg pre-quarter-finals, Nawaz Dad from Army defeated Awais Iqbal from Islamabad, Mir Bala from Sindh edged out Abdul Khaliq from Balochistan, Adnan Hasan from PAF defeated Mohammad Fareed from Islamaabd, Abdul Ghaffar from Police got the better of Mohammad Ashfaq from Punjab while Mohammad Ali from Navy defeated Mujahid Islam from Railways.
In the 69kg pre-quarter-finals, Arshad Hussain of PAF defeated Hasan Asif of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Tanvir Ahmad of Navy whacked Mohammad Mubashir of FATA, Fahim of Pakistan Rangers overwhelmed Atif of Punjab, Zulqarnain Abbas from Army ousted Mohammad Arshad from Railways while Aamir Khan from WAPDA defeated Gul Shaikh from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the 75kg pre-quarter-finals, Dur Mohammad from Navy defeated Mohammad Shoaib from Balochistan, Tayyb Usmani from Islamabad edged out Mohammad Abbas from KP, Shahid Khan from Punjab beat Mohammad Ali from Rangers while Atif Mehmood from Army got the better of Atif Yousuf from Punjab to qualify for the quarter-finals. Those who got throught in the 81kg were Ahmad Ali of Army, Noor Ali of Rangers, Abdul Wasay of KP, Mehmood-ul-Hasan of PAF. The quarter-finals will be held on Wednesday (today).
