Welcome to the Pakistan Handball Federation
Pakistan Handball Federation is the national governing body for the Sport of Handball in the Country. The Federation is affiliated with the following National and International bodies. 1. International Handball Federation (IHF), 2.Asian Handball Federation (AHF) 3. Commonwealth Handball Association (CHA) 4. South Asian Handball Federation (SAHF). 5.Pakistan Olympic Association(POA) 6. Pakistan Sports Board(PSB). At this moment the following units are affiliated with the Pakistan Handball Federation.
1.Army Sports Directorate 2.Higher Education Commission. 3.Police Sports Board. 4.Railway Sports Board. 5.Wapda Sports Board 6.Balochistan Handball Association. 7.KPK, Handball Association. 8.Punjab Handball Association. 9.Sindh Handball Association, 10. Islamabad Handball Association. 11. Pakistan Women Handball Association. 12.Handball Referees Association of Pakistan. 13. Athletes Commission.
After completing his study in Specialization Sports (special trainer Athletics)from Germany,Mr.Muhammad Shafiq introduced the game of Handball in Pakistan in 1984 at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, which is the hub of Handball in Pakistan. During 20th National Games,Faisalabad,1984 an exhibition match between National Athletics & Fitness Club and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad was played at Iqbal Satdium,Faisalabad. Since then, the game of Handball has been gradually developing and gaining popularity.
The Pakistan Handball Federation was formed in April,1985. Mr. Ahsan Alam and Mr. Muhammad Shafiq were elected as President and Secretary General of the Federation respectively.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) awarded the cup of honor to the Pakistan Handball Federation at Madrid,Spain,2007 and badge of merit in Gold to Mr. Muhammad Shafiq at Cairo,Egypt,2009 in recognition of the contribution at International level. Now Pakistan is is including in the leading Countries in Asia in Beach Handball and is the only country which has never come without winning medal from any Asian Beach Games since its inception .
At present Mr. Muhammad Shafiq and Mr. Javed Iqbal are the President and Secretary General of the Federation respectively. Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri has also served as President of the Pakistan Handball Federation from 2004-2012.

Mission
The mission of the Pakistan Handball Federationis to promote and develop the sports of handball in Pakistan in accordance with the rules. International Handball Federatiom (IHF) rules.
Pakistan Handball Federation
- To promote, develop, regulate and control the sport of Handball in Pakistan.
- To follow and enforce the Rules and Regulations of the International Handball Federation/Asian Handball Federation.
- To form affiliated associations/ organizations
- To coordinate and control activities in respect of Handball in all ways including the holding of tournaments. Organize National Championship, senior, junior and women under its own or under the auspices of any of its affiliated Member Units.
- To collect funds for the Federation and utilize the same in such a manner as may be considered desirable for the attainment of its aims and objectives.
- To select teams and officials to represent Pakistan in handball programmes to be held within the country and abroad.
- To create, standardize and regulate structures of technical officials / Referees, Coaches and Administrators under executive committee of the Federation.
- To establish Training camps and organize promotional programmes for expanding and raising the standard of Handball in Pakistan.
- To communicate with the Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Sports Board, International Handball Federation, Asian Handball Federation, South Asian Handball Federation, Commonwealth Handball Association, and other governmental bodies when required.
- To take action against violence in Handball and against any form of discrimination on grounds of race, religion, politics and sex etc.
- To ensure the observance of world anti doping code of WADA approved by the IOC and POA, and fight against doping and use of substances and procedure prohibited by the IOC or the International Handball Federation.
- To encourage women participation in Handball, create Women Associations at National and Provincial levels, and induct women in the General Council / Executive Committee of the Federation with the strength as per POA’s directive both at national and provincial levels. • To ensure resolution of all disputes in the Federation and its affiliated member units through arbitration.
- To create Athletes / Players commission with terms of reference in line the constitution of POA.
- To establish a Medical and Scientific Commission for anti-Doping and for improving performance of the players.
- To launch youth development programmes at grass- root levels.
- To improve administration and technical structures of the Federation and the Associations from national to the district levels.
- To do undertake all acts and things as deemed to be necessary or conducive to carry out aims, objectives and Role of the Federation
