Sind Olympic Association

Sind Olympic Association was formulated in 1948 and got affiliation with Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) in the same year. The main purpose of Sind Olympic Association is to promote and develop Sports in the Province of Sindh.

The Sindh Olympic Association has its own Constitution and the Association has responsibility to organize the National Games and Inter Provincial Games within the Province, when allotted by the POA. IOC and OCA (Men & Women) Management Courses is also organized by SOA as and when allotted by POA.

Sindh Olympic Association has the honour to stage the 1st Pakistan National Games in Karachi that were held at Polo Ground, Karachi from 23rd to 25th April 1948. These Games were inaugurated by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Thereafter, the Association has staged the National Games in 1970, 1976, 1980, 1988, 1997 and 2007. Since 1986 Sindh Olympic Association has organized altogether 16 Sindh Games in five divisions on rotational basis. The last Sindh Games were held at Hyderabad in the year 2012.

Mission Page

The mission of Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) is to develop and protect the Olympic Movement in the Province of Sindh in accordance with the Constitution of POA. In order to fulfil its mission, the Sindh Olympic Association may cooperate with Governmental and Non-Governmental bodies. However, it will never associate itself with any activity, which will be in contradiction to the Olympic Charter. Sindh Olympic Association is committed to promote Games in the Province of Sindh particularly and at National Level generally.

Sindh Olympic Association

  1. To foster and develop Olympism, the Olympic Movement along with its high ideals and ensure observance of the Constitution of Pakistan Olympic Association.
  2. To encourage, promote, control and assist in the development of Sports in Sindh Province.
  3. To instil in the youth the qualities of discipline, courage, self-reliance, honesty, tolerance and likewise virtues.
  4. To hold the National Games, Sindh Games or any other Games as and when required.
  5. To affiliate Provincial Sports Association.
  6. To arrange and encourage systematic training of Sports Persons, Coaches and Sports Administrators in the Province of Sindh and to assist them for further training within the country and abroad.
  7. To arrange IOC and OCA (Men & Women) Management Course as and when allotted by POA.
  8. To communicate with provincial Sports bodies, National Federations, Pakistan Olympic Association and Government bodies when required.
  9. To exercise the exclusive powers for the representation of the Province of Sindh in the sports events and programs within and outside Pakistan.
  10. To take action to adopt and implement the world Anti-Doping Code and respect all the rules and responsibilities those are listed within the world Anti-Doping Code.
  11. To encourage and induct women participation in sports and management structures as per IOC directive.
  12. To ensure resolution of all disputes in sports through arbitration.
  13. To take disciplinary action against any member unit for misbehaviour of its athletes/officials and Office bearers for any undesirable activity, bringing discredit to the Province of Sindh, Country, Association and sports or violating the Olympic Charter.
  14. To raise fund and seek source of financing for carrying out the functions of Sindh Olympic Association, however, ensuring that its autonomy, dignity and independence in accordance with the IOC Olympic Charter shall not be compromised.

To do all acts and things necessary and proper to carry out the aims and objectives of the Sindh Olympic Association.
