Welcome to the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation

The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) is the national governing body to develop and promote the sport of Taekwondo in the Country. In 1977, The Federation was granted affiliation by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU).

Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. Today, it has become a global sport that has gained an international reputation and stands among the official games in the Olympics.

In 1962, the Taekwondo was introduced in Pakistan by Korean Consulate in Karachi. In 1982, the Federation was affiliated with the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

Presently, Lieutenant Colonel Waseem Ahmed is the President and Mr Murtaza Hassan Bahgish is the Secretary General of the Federation. These office bearers were elected on 9 February 2014 during General Council / Executive Committee Meeting of the Federation.

Achievements:

  • Won three Gold three Silver and six Bronze Medals in 10th South Asian Games held in Colombo, Sri Lanka 2006.
  • Won two Silver medals in 2008 NRW International Teakwondo Championship held from 23rd to 28th October 2008 in Bonn, Germany.
  • Won one Gold and one Bronze medal in 4th El-Hassan International Taekwondo Championship held from 4th to 11th August 2008 in Jordan. Twenty two countries participated in this championship. Both medals were won by the Pakistan female players.
  • Won three Silver and four Bronze medals in 11th South Asian Games held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 2010.
