Welcome to the Pakistan Wrestling Federation

The Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) is the national governing body of sport of Wrestling in the Pakistan. The Pakistan Amateur Wrestling Federation was formed in Lahore in 1953. However, first three National Wrestling Championships were already been held in 1948, 1950 and 1952. The first major achievement of the Federation was winning of gold medal in the 2nd Asian Games held in 1954 at Manila, Philippines. The medal was won by Mr. Din Muhammad in flyweight class. Thereafter, Pakistani wrestlers proved their metal in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and South Asian Games by winning numinous medals. PWF is affiliated with the International Federation of Associated Wrestling (FILA).

Pakistan's greatest moment of glory in wrestling came during 1960 Rome Olympics where Muhammad Bashir grabbed a bronze medal in welterweight.

Achievements:

  • Won Bronze medal in the 17th Olympic Games Rome, Italy 1960.
  • Won two Silvers and one Bronze medal in 5th Commonwealth Games Vancouver, Canada 1954.
  • Won three Gold and three Silver medals in 6th Commonwealth Games Cardiff, Wales 1958.
  • Won seven Gold and one Silver medal in 7th Commonwealth Games held in, Perth, Australia 1962.
  • Won four Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal in 8th Commonwealth Games held in, Kingston, Jamaica 1966.
  • Won four Gold, two Silver and two Bronze medals in 9th Commonwealth Games held in, Edinburg, Scotland 1970.
  • Won one Bronze medal in 15th Commonwealth Games held in, Victoria, Canada 1994.
  • Won one Bronze medal in 17th Commonwealth Games held in, Manchester, England 2002.
  • Won two Gold and one Silver medal in 19th Commonwealth Games held in, New Delhi, India 2010.
  • Won one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals in 2nd Asian Games, held in, Manila, Philippines 1954.
  • Won three Silver and two Bronze medals in 3rd Asian Games, held in Tokyo, Japan 1958.
  • Won three Gold, seven Silver and four Bronze medals in 4th Asian Games, held in Jakarta, Indonesia 1962.
  • Won one Gold and one Silver medal in 5th Asian Games, held in Bangkok, Thailand 1966.
  • Won one Bronze medal in 6th Asian Games, held in Bangkok, Thailand 1970.
  • Won one Bronze medal in 7th Asian Games, held in Tehran, Iran 1974.
  • Won one Silver and three Bronze medals in 8th Asian Games, held in Bangkok, Thailand 1978.
  • Won one Gold and one Silver medal in 10th Asian Games, held in South Korea 1986.
  • Won four Gold and six Silver medals in 2nd South Asian Federation Games, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 1985.
  • Won two Gold, five Silver and two Bronze medals in 3rd South Asian Federation Games, held in Calcutta, India 1987.
  • Won three Gold, five Silver and two Bronze medals in 4th South Asian Federation Games, held in Islamabad, Pakistan 1989.
  • Won four Gold and six Silver medals in 6th South Asian Federation Games, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 1993.
  • Won three Gold, two Silver and five Bronze medals in 7th South Asian Federation Games, held in Madras, India 1995.
  • Won one Gold and seven Silver Medals in 8th South Asian Federation Games, held in Katmandu, Nepal 1999.
  • Won three Gold, three Silver and one Bronze medal in 9th South Asian Federation Games, held in Islamabad, Pakistan 2004.
  • Won six Gold and one Silver medal in 10th South Asian Games, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka 2006.
  • Won two Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals in 11th South Asian Games, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 2010.
  • Won two Silver and one Bronze medal in Commonwealth Youth Games held in India 2008 and three Silver and one Bronze medal in Commonwealth Youth Games held in Singapore 2010.
  • Won one Silver medal in World Beach Wrestling Championship held in USA 2007.
  • Won one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals in Asian Beach Wrestling held in Bali, Indonesia 2008.
  • In the Senior Asian Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand 2009. One Wrestler won one Bronze medal and the second one obtained 5th position in 66 Kg (Free Style).
