I was very pleased as your President to represent the Federation at today's launch of the Queen's Baton Relay for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Official ceremony at Backingham Palace officiated by our Patorn Her Majesty The Queen was corved live by the BBC and a number of other Commonwealth Broadcasters from across the CommonWealth and the really signalled the final contdown to the Games.
As the Baton commences its journey today I would encourage you all to embrace its visit to your shores, looking to maximise the promotional opportunites for not only the Games but also for your CGA and Most importantly your athletes' preparations.
I would like to acknowledge the excellent support and organisation provided by Glasgow 2014's QBR Team, whose Professionalism I'm sure you will be beneficiaries of.
Turning ot other matters, whilst in London I had arranged a meeting with Hugh Robertson the Minister of Sport. This meeting unfortunately did not take place due to the timing of the Prime Minister's Cabinet reshuffle. I did however take the opportunity to meet with the new Minister Helen Grant to whom I had earlier written to provide a briefing on two matters, namely:
1. The Federation's posting on Fiji; and
2. The consideration being given the location of Federation's base.
Looking ahead, we have the forthcoming visit of our Coordination Commission in Glasgow in late October. This will be followed by a visit to Samoa to review progress with planning for the 2015 Youth Games and in November the Coordicaiton Commission will be undertaking their inaugural visit to the Gold Coast.
All CGAs will be provided further reports following these Visits.
King regards,
HRH Tunku Imran
President
