POA Integrity Workshop: Fair Play And Beyond Back To Main

15-May-2024

Dear Sir,

Today, the Pakistan Olympic Association launched the eagerly anticipated POA Integrity Workshop: Fair Play and Beyond. This initiative brought together roughly 90 athletes, coaches, and officials, each committed to championing sportsmanship in athletics.

The workshop opened with insightful remarks from Ms. Rida Ahmed of the International Olympic Committee, who highlighted the critical importance of integrity within sports. Her role as the Awareness Raising & Capacity Building Manager at the Olympic Movement unit uniquely positions her to influence this vital area. She interacted with the athletes on the first day of the workshop and is scheduled to deliver an exclusive presentation on the second day of the workshop (16 May 2024).

Dr. Syed Meesaq Hussain Rizvi, Chairman of the POA Medical Commission, delivered an engaging lecture on Anti-Doping Measures for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. His presentation not only clarified the latest protocols but also emphasized the need for clean competition. Additionally, Dr. Asad Abbas Shah, Secretary of the POA Medical Commission, provided a practical demonstration on Result Management for Doping Tests. His detailed explanation helped demystify the complexities of doping tests, reinforcing the principles of fair play.

This workshop is a cornerstone of the POA’s dedication to fostering transparency and fairness. By equipping our community with essential knowledge and tools, we aim to instill a lasting culture of integrity. As the workshop progresses, it promises to be a platform for proactive engagement, inspiring all stakeholders to strive for excellence in sport and embody the true spirit of Olympism.

The second day of the event will witness more informative lectures and interaction with the athletes.
