KARACHI: Pakistan Fed Cup team recorded a 2-1 win over Singapore in Fed Cup – Asia/Oceania Zone Group II event in Shenzhen, China.
In a three-match tie against Singapore, Pakistan won a singles and a doubles match and lost one to record a 2-1 win. Ushna Sohail defeated Hannah En Xin Chew, registering a convincing 6-1, 6-4 triumph to give Pakistan 1-0 lead.
In the second match, Saba Aziz took a 1/0 lead by winning the first set against Geraldine Ang. However, the Singaporean rose from a set down to record 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win and leveled the arrears.
In the doubles encounter, Ushna Suhail and Sara Mansoor played against Geraldine and Ee Yi Olivia Koh and recorded a 6-3, 6-4 triumph to seal the victory. Pakistan will now face Hong Kong.
