KARACHI: Promising Abdul Basit pulled off a shock when he defeated top seed Shah Zeb to advance in the second round of Under-17 event of Parco 4th Roshan Khan Junior Open Squash here at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex here on Saturday.
Highly motivated Basit demonstrated fine all-round court craft and strokes to down Peshawar lad Shah Zebi in four games in the US$10,000 prize money event.
Under-19 top seed Ali Bokhari started in style by thrashing Faraz Khan in straight games.
Sindh Minister Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah inaugurated the championship, where Squash legend Jahangir Khan and General Manager Parco Shah Saad Hussain were also present. The girls’ event will start from Sunday (today).
