KARACHI: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) were crowned champions after they beat Lahore’s Wohaib FC 3-1 on penalty shootout in the final of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Second Division League held at the Garhi Shahau’s Railways Stadium on Tuesday.
After the match ended in a goalless draw in the scheduled and extra time, ZTBL kept their cool and overcame their rivals in the penalty shootout to wear the crown. Both the teams have already qualified for the 9th Pakistan Premier Football League to be held next year.
PFF secretary Col Ahmad Yar Khan Lodhi was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He gave away medals and cash prizes to the teams and players. The winners ZTBL got a cheque of Rs250,000, the runners-up had to content with Rs150,000.
The best goal-keepers, Waqas from Wohaib FC and Zaid Arif from ZTBL, were handed over Rs30,000 each. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Quetta’s Baloch FC shared fair-play trophy and Rs50,000.
Irshadul Haq and Jehanzeb got richer by Rs30,000 and Rs15,000, respectively, for being declared the best referee and the best assistant referee.
