Press Release – XXI Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018 Back To Main

A meeting of the Presidents/Secretaries General of concerned sports federations in connection with the XXI Commonwealth Games Gold Coast scheduled from 04 – 15 April, 2018 held on 10 January, 2018 at Olympic House, 2-Hameed Nizami Temple Road, Lahore under the Chairmanship of Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan to discuss and share certain important information with the Federations as well as to get their feedback on account of preparations and performance. Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board also attended this important meeting for effective coordination and adequate arrangements for the subject mega event.

Pakistan is participating in 10 Sports Disciplines i.e. Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Hockey, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling with strength of 89 athletes and officials. Following points were discussed in the meeting:-

1. Submission of online accreditation of athletes and officials
2. Preparation and Training camps of the concerned sports federations
3. Performance of Athletes
4. Submission of Final Entry by Name
5. Visa status of the participating athletes and officials
6. Arrival and departure information

Concerned participating federations gave their power point presentations to the Chair and discussed in detail about their preparation, training camp and other matters related to the Commonwealth Games. Director General, Pakistan Sports Board ensured the full cooperation of PSB for providing maximum facilities to the participating athletes/contingent. President POA and all the stakeholders appreciated the support of DG PSB for the Games. Meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
