KARACHI: Raheel Qureshi from Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Victoria Desoza from PPL won men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, of the First PSO-Carient Inter-Firm Table Tennis tournament held here at the Islamia Club on Friday night.
Raheel Qureshi, who outwitted AH Bhatti from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in the semifinal, displayed fine skills in the title showdown against his rival Asim Hussain from Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK), beating him 6-11, 12-10, 11-3, 8-11 and 11-8.
Meanwhile, Victoria Desoza from PPL outgunned Nilofer Framji from PSO 11-2, 11-6 and 11-9 in the decider.
Similarly, the pair of Raheel Qureshi and Salim Ahmad from KMC clinched the men’s doubles title, edging out PSO’s Amir Pervez and Farrukh in the final.
The score was 7-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-7.
Aamir and Farrukh had whacked the pair of Ijaz and Azhar Ali from PPL while Salim and Raheel had downed Momin and Sultan from PPL in the semifinals. The other day, Mansha Brothers had ousted KMC 3-1 in the men’s team event final
