Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event held every four years as per the renowned set format of the Olympic Games. Accordingly, Summer and Winter Youth Olympic Games are held. First edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games was held in Singapore from 14th to 26th August 2010 and the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games is scheduled to be held in 2012 in Innsbruck, Austria. The vision of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is to inspire young people around the world to participate in sport and adopt and live by the Olympic values. It was during its Session in Guatemala City in July 2007 that the IOC decided to create a new sporting event to educate, engage and influence young athletes inspiring them to play an active role in their communities.
In the first edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore in 2010, young athletes from 204 countries competed in the twenty six sports disciplines. Pakistan athletes participated in four disciplines i.e. Hockey, Swimming, Taekwondo and Weightlifting. However, Pakistan Hockey team won one Silver medal in these games.
